Abstract

The AA. examine the spatial patterns of both the average and standard deviation of water surface at an asymmetrical confluence at different flow stages. This has required the development of a new methodology to obtain reliable field data on very small changes in water surface height. These results are interpreted with respect to visual observations of the flow structures. Simulated water surface topography from three-dimensional numerical modelling is also compared with the detailed field measurements
