Abstract

Three geophysical methods (DC resistivity tomography, refraction seismic tomography and electromagnetic profiling (EM-31) in comparison with direct temperature measurements) have been applied to delineate the altitudinal limit of Jotunheimen permafrost. The good agreement with temperature-based methods validates empirical approaches such as the relation between bottom temperature of snow cover (BTS) and permafrost occurences, and further supports the findings from the geophysical surveys
