Abstract

The results of the investigation in the Upper Engadine permafrost during 1996-1998 (one-dimensional geoelectrical soundings) and 2002 (two-dimensional electrical resistivity tomography) are presented and discussed. This contribution illustrates the potential of two-dimensional DC resistivity tomography for applications in periglacial geomorphology providing a more comprehensive characterization of the subsurface lithology and the small scale permafrost distribution
