Le Zimbabwe et les Italiens au Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe, which until a few decades ago was known as the Switzerland of Africa, is now suffering from starvation : the whites have gradually been prived of their possession and are reduced to a scant minority. One can say that only after World War II was an italian community formed in South Rhodesia, due on the one hand to italian ex-prisoners of the African war who were kept there in three concentration campa and who returned there after the war, and on the other hand to part of the 4000 Impresit workers who did the same, having previously gone there in the 1950s with their families to build the Kariba dyke. Due to these two attendant circumstances, by the 1960s, the Italian community numbered about 6000 people ; now amount to 1350 people. - (NF)
