Abstract

The purpose of this study is to apply cosmogenic dating techniques to the Wester Ross Readvance Moraine, an unequivocal, well-preserved, ice-sheet limit in Scotland. Cosmogenic Be 10 from 4 Lewisian gneiss boulders on the Gairloch Moraine in NW Scotland have yielded reliable exposures ages. It is suggested that the Wester Ross Readvance represents an ice-sheet oscillation during, or in the immediate aftermath of Heinrich Event 1
