Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the potential contribution of the different surface materials in the Southern Aral Sea Basin to dust generation. For this purpose, the deflatability of the materials was tested using a wind tunnel and laboratory analyses. More specifically, the effects of salinity and soil crusting were examined. Sine in situ examinations proved impractical, the tests were performed on dislocated material. The effects of treatments on soil erodibility were determined in order to formulate recommendations for amelioration
