Abstract

The AA. seek to describe the provenance and transport history of an interregional dust transport event that deposited dust over the central Southern Alps, New Zealand. An air parcel trajectory model is used to reconstruct the dust plume transport history. The AA. then describe the sedimentological characteristics of local and long distance dusts and apply a new geochemical provenancing technique to confirm the dust source regions in Australia and New Zealand at a resolution of <200 km
