Abstract

This paper reports the findings of investigation into the salt weathering of surface material present at the Ranger Uranium Mine (RUM) waste rock dump site situated in the seasonally wet tropical north of Australia, and examines the rate of sediment generation and the manner in which the particle size distribution (PSD) of the weathered material changes over time. Future work will embed these data into erosion models allowing the prediction of landform evolution at the RUM and thereby allow effective rehabilitation strategies for the mine site to be developed
