Abstract

This paper demonstrates the ability of stereo photography to convey visually the results of hazards events in an easily understood format for the non-specialist. It uses as an example a series of stereo photographs taken of the impacts of the July 2002 Canyon Dam overflow event. Photographs depict both fluvial processes and floods impacts. Such images, produced rapidly using conventional photographic equipment and software, can provide important visual information for emergency managers, the public, and researchers
