Soil detachment and transport on field- and laboratory-scale interrill areas : erosion processes and the size-selectivity of eroded sediment

This study compares the dynamics of interrill soil erosion processes and particle-size selectivity at laboratory and field scales in the semi-arid environment of Senegal. Specific objectives were : to determine the quantity and the size characteristics of splash- and wash-eroded soil material; to evaluate the interrill erosion processes affecting sediment transport and size-selectivity of this sediment; and to provide a data set useful to the understanding (and potentially the modelling) of fundamental erosion processes, their interactions and their spatial and temporal variability
