Abstract

This paper presents a one-dimensional erosion model, ARMOUR, that dynamically simulates soil armouring on a hillslope for unsteady flow conditions. Data collected from rainfall-erosion plots at Ranger Uranium Mine, Northern Territory, and Northparkes Gold Mine, New South Wales, Australia, were used to calibrate and validate ARMOUR. Generalized likelihood of uncertainty estimation was used for model calibration, and to estimate the uncertainty of the model predictions and parameter sensitivity. The model predictions were then tested with a series of independent short duration runoff-erosion events
