Abstract

This study investigated soil loss due to crop harvesting (SLCH) for potato and sugar beet plots on farmer's fields spread over 4 regions in northeast China where harvesting is carried out by hand. The aims are to evaluate the impacts of possible determining factors, such as soil texture and soil moisture content at harvesting time, on SLCH variability; to estimate the relative importance of SLCH for the total sediment budget in northeast China; to compare 2 harvesting techniques, by hand and by machine
