Abstract

The aim of this review is, first, to summarize the more recent changing patterns in the application of numerical classification (cluster analysis) and ordination techniques and related techniques in biogeography. Second, this review seeks to synthesize and comment on the various criticisms that have been made regarding almost all the methods in use at the present time. Finally, some pointers to the future are highlighted in terms of very recent developments and new advances in techniques
