Abstract

This paper focuses on meteorological conditions associated with slush flows, and their geomorphologic impact in northwest Iceland. The role of heavy rainfall and rapid snowmelt during winter cyclonic activity is highlighted. The most obvious characteristics of slush flows in the Bíldudalur valley are the entrainment and deposition of debris, spatially differentiated. Chaotic sedimentation occurs chiefly in the middle part of a clearly concave cone, even if the flows continue beyond the cone
