Abstract

The AA. use a technique which derives duration of glacial occupancy of the landscape based on a reconstructed climatic history, superimposed on the tectonic transport and uplift of the Ben Ohio Range into the glacierized zone of Southern Alps, New Zealand. Applying this technique to cirques in the Ben Ohau Range, the aims of this study are : first, to morphologically characterize cirques along the range; to determine spatial variations in the duration of glacial occupancy of cirques along the range; and third, to determine the rate of morphometric change of cirques within the Ben Ohau Range
