Abstract

For some time now economic geographers have wrestled with a dominant economic orthodoxy, which underlines an ahistoric formalist and homogenous view of economics. Obviously, this neoliberal view of the world is highly entangled with the social context and criticism of undersocialised economics is undersocialised itself. Rather then continuously pointing at the unrealistic nature of autistic economics, the task should be to analyse how abstract economic thinking produces realities. The paper discusses four conceptual building stones for such a project and their empirical application : virtualism, framing/disentangling, the economy as a boundery practice, border pluralisation and the composition of alternative economic orders. - (IFL)
