Abstract

Reservoir surveys were conducted to estimate sediment deposition rate for 11 reservoirs identified to be representative of catchments in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia. Field surveys were conducted to characterize the catchments in terms of erosional susceptibility based on factorial scoring approach. Finally, the factorial index was integrated with the catchment area to develop a semi-quantitative sediment yield potential prediction model for the highlands of northern Ethiopia
