Abstract

The AA. examined the stepped geomorphic surfaces of foreland eastern Qilian Shan, which were chronologically constrained by a combination of new dates from palaeomagnetism, ESR, TL, IRSL and radiocarbon dating. From these new dates, they aim to gain new insights into the evaluation of tectonism and climatic changes as the 2 major terrace-forming factors in the context of episodic uplift of Tibetan Plateau. The repetitive stratigraphic and geomorphic pattern of these terraces indicates the fluvial sedimentation-incision cycles are tightly associated with the 100-ka glacial-interglacial climatic cycles
