Abstract

Decentralisation in the form of creating new states and local government areas has taken place in Southwestern Nigeria over a period of about four decades. The study examines the resultant spatial pattern of development of local government areas. The paper concludes that creating local government areas has succeeded in spreading development to previously bakward areas. - (AJC)
