Abstract

Here, the AA. use Cs 137 to characterize and quantify soil erosion at the Konza Prairie Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) site, an undisturbed grassland in northeastern Kansas. Their goals are to quantify the small-scale variability of Cs 137 in soils and to ascertain if basin-scale variability exceeds small-scale variability. In addition, they test whether topographical attributes such as slope, curvature, and upslope contributing area are related to Cs 137 inventories, and use these relationships to gain insight into the erosion processes occurring on this landscape over the past 4 decades
