Abstract

The aim of the study was to provide a soil survey along a vertical transect in the Bolivian Andes in order to detect patterns in soil distribution and to explain the genesis of soils and its changes with altitude from 1850 to 3050 m a.s.l. The results show that due to increasing wetness and colder temperatures at high altitudes, dominant soil forming processes change from podzolisation to hydromorphism soils with increasing altitude
