Mountain river channels

published at : Mountain rivers II : channel processes. Special issue

Abstract

The papers in this special issue represent some of the recent progress made on understanding mountain river channels. They include studies addressing detailed hydraulics, morphological and sedimentological adjustments, methodological advances, and general theory. The first three papers report detailed hydraulics of step-pool, riffle-pool, and force-pool channels based on field measurements and flow modeling. The next five papers characterize morphological and sedimentological responses within mountain river channels. Methodological advances highlight the next two articles dealing with reach-scale spatial patterns in hydraulics and bed material storage
