Abstract

The book describes the main streets of Mandalay, former capital of the Burmese kingdom whiwh was created in 1857 by King Mindon. The native residents have relatives and friends spread in all quarters of the city. Since May 1996, considerable changes have taken place in the town. The A. mentions the disappearance of numerous traditional places. New constructions such as villas, hotels, railway station and markets can be seen on the 78th street.
