Abstract

Analysis and assessment of India's engagement with Greater Mekong sub-region. The author is professor at Nehru University in New Delhi. The paper is divided in five chapters. I- The new geopolitical context of continental southeast Asia going from battlefield to market place and integration into ASEAN. II- India's contact with GMS (Greater Mekong sub-region) countries. III- Genesis and evolution of the Mekong-Ganga Swarnabhoomi (MGCI) cooperation program. IV- The impact of MGCI on bilateral ties among the countries participating to the program. V- The future challenges and prospects of a program in which China is not included. - (GL)
