The 9 papers report studies carried out in the USA, Australia, Israel, Spain as well as 3 regions of Africa : the Namib, the Kalahari and northern Ethiopia. The first paper focuses explicitly on aeolian processes : Stout J.E. Then a paper presents a model for the development of cyanobacterial crusts, and their impact on soil surface properties : Thomas A.D. and Dougill A.J. Two papers on weathering processes are included in this issue : Warke P.A.; Viles H.A., Goudie A.S. The paper of Stokes M., Nash D.J. and Harvey A.M. describes a series of alluvial fans in south east Spain which are isolated from the modern drainage network. The last 3 papers focus on fluvial processes and landforms in dryland environments : Alexandrov Y., Laronne J.B., Harvey A.M.; Billi P.; Wakelin-King G.A., Webb J.A.
