Abstract

This paper emphasizes digital analysis of optical imagery (as contrasted to qualitative air photo interpretation) and the mapping of in-stream or active channel features rather than floodplain environments, where classic vegetation monitoring techniques play a major role. This paper therefore highlights and evaluates recent advances and capabilities specific to optical remote sensing of rivers. Example for the Nueces River, Texas
