Abstract

This study describes and explains the relationship between the spatial distribution of landslides and the Main Central Thrust (MCT) in the Satluj valley. Seventy six naturally occuring landslides in the area have been statistically analyzed. Hypotheses were formulated on the distribution of landslides around the thrust. Chi-square analyses revealed that the Main Central Thrust (MCT) does not control the distribution of landslides away from the thrust, however, it only influences the spatial coverage of landslides along its strike length
