Abstract

By using the press coverage of the German reunification as a case study, the A. discusses the social embeddedness and maintenance of traditional spatial concepts in general, and the “container concept” in particular. In everyday social practice, these concepts have constraining and enabling implications. Everyday “containerization” simplifies contingency and complexity.
