Abstract

The master planned estate becomes more common as the preferred form of urban development in the growth areas of Australian cities, particularly on the urban fringe. Developers are now marketing residential estates and this approach represents a shift from traditional house building to more comprehensive place making. The provision of facilities for residents has a number of implications relating to exclusivity and separation from the wider community
