Abstract

However one may define "emerging economy", Brazil always is included. Over the past decades, Latin America´s largest country and richest in population has developed into a leading economy in the world, despite high foreign debt, economic crises and political ruptures. This coincides with Brazil picturing herself as a "leader in Latin America" and her self-confident stature in world politics. At the same time Brazil has to define its role in the globalization process, as not only the changing economic and political framework is influenced by globalization, but also the internal gap between rich and poor, between losers and winner regions in the vast country. - (IfL)
