Abstract

Gravitative mass movements, such as hang slides, mud flows and debris flows, form a group of geomorphological processes whose dangers are underestimated across the globe. Such events take place in many areas of the globe and are often not spectacular, though with huge damage, and remain outside a preemptive disaster management. Along examples from Venezuela and the European Alps some aspects of such geomorphologic processes and the dangers resulting from them will be described analysed. - (IfL)
