Abstract

The study area Åmosen evolved as a melt water river. The draining of the area started in 1931 and continued up to the 1960's to enable an intensification of the peat dredging and later, cultivation. Part of the wetland was re-flooded in 1996 to protect archaeological artefacts. The aims of this study were to investigate the temporal and spatial dynamics of oxygen depletion following flooding and the subsequent release of Fe and P in an experimental column set-up using planar optodes. Further, this study serves as an environmental assessment of the potential release of P associated with flooding the eastern part of Åmosen
