Abstract

The aims of this study were : 1) to analyze the physical and chemical properties of the soils developed on a stepped terrace system and their evolution during the Pleistocene; 2) to establish relationships between time of development and the form of the carbonates at the micro- and macroscopic scale using quantitative measurements of carbonate accumulations and micromorphological observations, and 3) to analyze the influence of carbonate accumulation on soil classification
