Abstract

This short paper aims to describe and evaluate some of the geomorphic effects of pocket gopher activity at a site in the Cascade Mountains, Washington State, USA, in particular the formation of sediment-filled tunnels produced through winter-time burrowing. The paper then considers the implications of pocket gopher activity for alpine environmental management within the context of present and future climate change impacts on mountain ecomorphic and geomorphic systems
