Abstract

The research presented here was undertaken to investigate the response of the barrier and back-barrier environments to both external forcing and internal organisation, with the aim of resolving the primary controls on gravel foreland progradation, the inter-relationship and inter-dependence between gravel barrier and marshland environments, and, ultimately, the significance of relative sea-level rise, coastal morphology, storm events, and sediment supply in shaping the Dungeness and Romney Marsh landscapes in southeast England
