The aims of this contribution are firstly, to present data on thickness and composition of five interesting mires in the North Tyrolean Alps; secondly, to demonstrate the potential and limitations of geophysics, particularly GPR, in depicting the mire base and thirdly, to find reasons for discrepancies and highlight the potential of combined data interpretation
