Abstract

The struggle of companies for controlling power in the global value chain and for such segments in it that promise the highest value gain is also a struggle for market share between producers and retailers and even between differently structured retailers. The example of shoes retailing illustrates that parallel to various market segments for the same product “shoe” a whole variety of “buyers” has developed that attempts to control the value chain at the consumer-retail interface. - (IfL)
