Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve the understanding of the decay dynamics of masonry materials and sandstone by weathering and to provide a quantitative and predictive basis for conceptual models of sandstone decay using geostatistics. Data recorded at a series of stages from ongoing salt-weathering trials are used to investigate the spatial variation of trigger factors, such as permeability, and the establishment of positive feedback conditions in a temperate climate
