Abstract

Full account of Aung San Suu Kyi’s role in the struggle against the military junta that controlled Burma since 1988. The A. exposes one of the most violent and corrupt governments in the world today. She explores the ongoing brutal conflict perpetrated by the SPDC and the organizations under its umbrella. ASSK has been a pivotal figure in bringing to international attention a regime that maintains power through torture, terror, imprisonment and summary executions. She is known even to her enemies as “The lady”. Placed under house arrest she continues to struggle for democracy in a country which has been describe as an Orwellian land. - (GL)
