Abstract

The analysis of 4 borehole cores shows that the paleo-valley of the Yangtze River in Nanjing reach has several imbedded terraces, with deep paleo-channel below –60 m. The 14C ages confirm that the deep incised-valley below -60 m at Nanjing reach is Yangtze River paleo-valley during the LGM. Appropriate formula was selected to calculate the velocity of flow, discharge, etc. according to the paleo-valley configuration and the particles size grading of sediments on the bottom of the valley
