Abstract

Using a cartogram representing each administrative area by total population living there, this book shows how the recent economic downturn has hit Britain since the economic heights of early 2007. Coloured maps on over 40 topics, including bankruptcy, crime, poverty, unemployment, health, house prices, volunteering and the ‘Big Society’, with corresponding statistical tables showing ‘best’ and ‘worst’ areas, allow an examination of Britain by local authority areas and by parliamentary constituencies. Information is also displayed on environmental threats associated with road transport, energy consumption, and failure to recycle waste. - (HC)
