Using geographic information system (GIS) and field measurements the nearshore morphological variability of a headland bay beach at Tenby, West Wales, is assessed over historical time frames (1748-2007). Inter-linkages between nearshore and shoreline evolution using a combination of bathymetric charts, maps and aerial photographs are interpreted. Cross-shore profiles from the study site and adjacent beaches provide a recent record of morphological change. Environmental forcing agents and anthropogenic use were subsequently evaluated for their contribution to quantified beach and shoreline change
