Abstract

The area of Jazygia is a distinct landscape of Hungary, a landscape surrounded by the rivers Zagyva and Tarna and the creek Ágó, at the foot of the Mátra mountains. The Jazygs are famous for several things: primarily for their privileged history and identity, for the Lehel’s Horn, but also for the flourishing preserving of traditions. Preserving of the past values has been very important here. According to the author, the Jazygs were pioneers of the local culture movements in the 1960s and of the folk dance and folk music in the 1970s. - (AM)
