Abstract

Some problems may arise in the case of modelling air pollution caused by point sources, because of the dispersion of contaminants ensues above highly variable areas. It usually occurs in the course of monitoring the air pollution of settlements. Generally the models take the inhomogenity of the surface into account using only the roughness length parameter. This value can be assigned by measuring the wind profile, using Lidar scanner, remotely sensed or photogrammetric data. There is an opportunity of classifying and splitting the area into homogeneous parts in case of the examination of an inhomogeneous area. The whole district can be characterized with the help of the only one effective roughness length derived from the value of roughness parameters typical of the previously mentioned area. The calculated concentration field meaningfully depends on the calculated effective roughness parameters based on the different literature recommendations. The deviation of these concentration fields has been examined in the study in the sample area of Jászberény. - (AM)
