Abstract

By using the observed monthly mean temperature and humidity datasets of 14 radiosonde stations and monthly mean precipitation data of 83 surface stations from 1979 to 2008 over the Tibetan Plateau (TP), the relationship between the atmospheric water vapor (WV) and precipitation in summer and the precipitation conversion efficiency (PEC) over the TP are analyzed. The spatial distributions of atmospheric water vapor (WV) content over the TP in summer (June-July-August) are analyzed. Possible connections between water vapor and precipitation are examined. Finally, the PEC over the TP is calculated and analyzed
