Abstract

The paper focuses on two of the main trades with young women in sub-Saharan have typically entered : hair-dressing and dressmaking. Through drawing on a qualitative case study of hairdressers and seam-stresses in Ghana, it is shown how the two professions have faired quite differently in recent years
