Abstract

In order to highlight the impact of long-term land use on soil quality, the spatial pattern of permanent wetland, permanent forest, permanent dryland, wetland converted to dryland, wetland converted to paddy land, dryland converted to paddy land, and forest converted to dryland in the Sanjiang Plain from 1979 to 2009 was identified. he Bawujiu Farm, located in Heilongjiang Province, provided a case study for this research project. It is highlighted that agricultural development from wetland decreases soil fertile status. Dynamics of 8 nutrient indexes of 7 types of conversion are identified. It is recommended that dryland or forest be converted to paddy land because it increases soil nutrient conservation and improvement
