Abstract

The aim of the paper is to analyze the morphology and development of the aeolian forms in Inner Somogy (W-Hungary). In the southern part of the region a 245.5 km2 large area was studied, where 475 dunes, belonging to different dune generations, were analyzed in detail. The largest forms are huge parabolic dunes (with an average area of 5.8 km2). Upon these mega-forms three more`dunelewels appear. The dunes belong to the parabolic dune association and the degree of their infilling refers to the amount of sand supply during their formation. The OSL age data suggest that there were three main aeolian periods. - (AM)
