Abstract

Owing to global climate change the frequency of extreme weather and hydrographic situations increased in the last few decades. Among natural hazards river floods threatens most of the territory of Hungary. About one fourth of the country – including a number of holiday resorts and recreation areas – is regularly affected by river floods. In some cases even the sight of a flooded area may become a tourist attraction. The A. concludes that in spite of the fact that floods have a considerable effect on the environment, they do not influence significantly the leisure habits of Hungarian domestic tourists. - (AM)
