Abstract

In this study, the AA. examined the effects of 5 land uses (farmland, natural grassland, shrub forestland, arbor-shrub mixed forestland and arbor forestland) on soil aggregation and soil organic carbon (SOC) fractions on the Loess Plateau (Maliantan Farm of Yongshou County in Shaanxi province). It is highlighted that : Aggregates SOC and easily oxidizable organic carbon (EOC) in grassland and forestland were higher than in farmland; SOC and EOC in farmland concentrated in < 1 mm macro-aggregates, in others in > 1 mm; EOC tended to concentrate in larger aggregates than SOC. So converting slope cropland to forestland and grassland could improve the storage and quality of SOC, and the tendency of SOC transfer
